I once heard it said that every upset is a set up—an opportunity to lament or to learn. I broke my right arm whilst skiing in January 2011. I had done some drawing and painting with my left hand in the past, out of choice, not necessity. With my right arm in a sling, I had no option. My left-handed experience, which I had expected to find highly frustrating, proved to be anything but. Being out of control was liberating and lots of fun. It gave me a new way to engage in the creative process.
These mixed media works are the result of my left-handed journey. The title of this series is the Latin for left and the origin of the English word sinister.
