OXOgraphy

I co-founded the OXOgraphy Conceptual Art Collective with fellow artist Anthony Matthews in 2009. The idea was inspired by my mother’s recollections of the ‘Monty Pythonesque’ Oxometrical Society, established by Engineering and Veterinary students at Sydney University in 1942. Oxometry appeared as an exact science “ostensibly to study, and possibly stem, the production of oxoplasm”, which in a quantity of one unit, “coincided with the disappearance of an equivalent amount of fact” (hence the taurean reference in the Society’s name). As a visual art equivant, OXOgraphy seeks to depict, rather than measure, instances of bovine excretia, asking “what is art” and “how can it be determined, defined and realised” in the hands of the artist? Derived from the OXO bouillion cube, the OXOgraphy brand currently includes work under the OXO, Art BollOX and BULLdust labels.
