SPLASH 2019
The annual SPLASH art auction is a major fundraiser for Arts Umbrella, a not-for-profit arts education centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. Arts Umbrella’s programs (for ages 2 through 19) exemplify their belief that access to the highest quality arts education is a basic human right, regardless of experience, education or socio-economic background. A Preview exhibition of works up for auction will be on display at the Pendulum Gallery September/October 2019.

Easter Art Show – Homage
The Salt Spring Arts Council presents the 13th Easter Art Show. Participating artists were asked to produce a work in homage to the visual artist, author, sculptor, designer, composer, musician, poet, or choreographer who inspired their own creative vision. Gillian is exhibiting The Resurrection of Dead Letters, a series executed on old typing manual pages. Fuel – The Charcoal Project
An exhibition of work by 5 Salt Spring artists and Gulf Islands Secondary School students (through Arts Council’s Artists in the Class program) incorporates alder wood charcoal excavated from 100 year-old Japanese pit kilns on Salt Spring Island. Restoration of the kilns, initiated by Rose Murakami, was conducted in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Japanese Garden Society. The exhibition, at Salt Spring Island Public Library, runs for the month of October 2019.

OXOgraphy
The inaugural exhibition of the OXOgraphy Collective of Conceptual Artists at ArtSpring, 100 Jackson Avenue, Salt Spring Island. This exhibit introduces the branding of OXO, our graphic and philosophical identity. OXOgraphy founders Gillian McConnell and Anthony Matthews present an enticing body of work, inspired by conceptual questions “what is art”, and “how can art be determined, defined and realized” in the hands of the artist. Exhibition runs Saturday March 31 through Wednesday April 11 2012.

Is the sugar cane industry headed for a sticky end? Can it survive by switching tracks? Gillian McConnell boils down the issues of this controversial crop in Bittersweet” at Noosa Regional Gallery, Noosa Queensland.
